Our Foundation

This class explores the very foundation of Lapid Judaism.  The nature of the Messhiah and His original message will be examined through an in-depth review of relevant holy texts.  Ancient Jewish sources will be surbeyed which will be used to illustrate the essence of the Messiah, the Torah, and the concept of redemption.  This class offers the compelling "why" behind Yeshua-centered Judaism. Chesed:

Chesed means "loving-kindness" and it is the fuel that powers the spiritual engine of Lapid Judaism.  This class will discuss six key areas related to the pursuit of chesed.  The centrality of love of G-d / love of fellow-man will be explored.  An overview of the Jewish concept of mussar and the development of positive middot will be discussed.  The critical mitzvah of shimras halashon is also an important topic as is the concept of teshuvah.  Other chesed related topics covered in this class include the pursuit of humility and important community mitzvah programs such as bikur cholin, chavera kaddisha, tzedakah and hospitality towards guests. Avodah:

Our reasonable service

Avodah literally means work or service.  In the context of the Temple it applied to the sacrificial service.  In Chassidism, it refers to worship and the "service of the heart" which is prayer.  In Jewish thought, the highest form of worship is to follow the Will of G-d.   That Will is synonymous with the Torah.  The Avodah class explores the depths of Jewish values and practical living.  The concept of "doers fo the Word" is the central theme as well as practical halacha.  This class is principle about what we do as Jews in a sincere effort to observe the Torah and elevate the mundane to holiness. Taught by Zaken Rayford Hopson.
